October Superintendent Message

There’s so much more to this hobby than just “building trains in your basement!” This month’s selfie is a 2-in-1. I took one when we started running trains at the Fall Festival in Saratoga Springs at Shay Park, then another on 25

one of the last runs of the night. It was a great night! I usually like riding as conductor or driving the train but most of my assignment was line control. We tried out a new system and it worked really well. Some of the time it seemed a little crazy but in years past the wait had been over an hour and this year people said 10-15 min. I’d say that’s an improvement! I had a great time talking and joking around with the kids and parents and sharing my enthusiasm for trains. I believe we gave around 1200 rides. It was a lot of fun!

I will be traveling during this month’s meeting. In fact, I don’t know how accurate this map is but I’ll be on several of those trains on that crazy map! Several others I know will also not make it so if there is someone willing to video the presentation I will upload it to our Youtube channel. Let me know.
Coming up is the Intermountain Train Expo, the annual train show hosted by our Division. A SignUp Genius email was sent out. I appreciate those who have signed up but we have a lot more spaces to be filled. If you didn’t get the email and want to sign up, contact Mark Reviea at mareviea@gmail.com It’s a lot of work putting on a show and every little bit of help from as many as possible makes it go smoother and more enjoyable for all! Even if you are there with another club we ask that you help with some of the division jobs as well that way we can enjoy the journey together!
