There’s so much more to this hobby than just “building trains in your basement!” It’s fun to run trains with friends. I almost didn’t go to the Kanab Train Show but I took the time because I wanted to have fun with my friends and run some trains. It’s a good thing I went. While I did get to have fun running some trains, I also had the “pleasure” of spending some time at the ER. The guy I carpooled with had some issues and had I not been there I don’t know how he would have gotten home. Last year he drove by himself so it would have been no big deal to go by himself again. However, it would have been a huge deal to get home had I not been there. I’m glad I was in a position to be of service to one of my friends.
While I was at the train show in Kanab another division in our region invited me on their division Zoom call. They asked how we did it every month and what we do to keep such a large division’s members active. Without really thinking about it I told them what we do which all boils down to our motto of “Fun, Learning and Fellowship!” Hopefully the more you get involved with our division you can see that come through. As we enjoy this hobby together, hopefully we get to know each other better and when something hard comes into your life you will realize you have friends around you that can help without hesitation. Let us keep running trains and getting to know each other better so we can enjoy the journey together!
