There’s so much more to this hobby than just “building trains in your basement!” Almost every month there’s some convention or activity. This last month I attended the Sn3 Symposium. I wondered why it was called a symposium instead of convention. Well, the definition says it is a conference to discuss a particular subject. So, that is spot on being a particular subject indeed. If I had to start over Sn3 would be a strong pull for me. Much of the talk was “scale independent” like our Division meetings. In fact my selfie is with some HOn3 friends whom I haven’t seen in 10-15 years! Although the symposium was based on Sn3 modeling, the vibe was very much just good friends getting together again to enjoy each other’s company with the commonality of model railroading.
Speaking of which, there is no Division Meeting this month to support the Regional Convention taking place in Durango, CO. There are a number of our Division members making the trek out. Hopefully there will be the same vibe of enjoying friends and talking about trains. It’s been about 20 years since I was there and I am looking forward to returning. Stay safe everyone. If I don’t see you at the convention, I look forward to seeing you at next month’s meeting. Remember we are now meeting at Stadler for our Division meetings. Also, don’t forget that Stadler will be hosting its annual Open House and Train Show Saturday, June 7th 9am – 5pm. The Division and Clubs will have trains setup. If you are not part of the setup make sure to come see us so that we can enjoy the journey together!
