March Superintendent Message

There’s so much more to this hobby than just “building trains in your basement!” One of the great things about this hobby is knowing you have friends wherever you go! I met John when he came to the NMRA National Convention we hosted in 2019. You may have seen his videos on his YouTube page TSG Multimedia. Recently I found out we have quite a few similarities in where we grew up. I grew up in the Bay Area and just went back with my daughter for a Dance Dads weekend. While she was in class I slipped away to meet up with John to get a tour of the Santa Clara Depot where they have lots of artifacts and an N and HO scale layout. He let me run his Amtrak train around the layout which was featured in his video released this week. Meeting people on-line, at train conventions and shows is a lot of fun. Whenever I travel I try to meet up with local model railroaders. It doesn’t always work out but when it does it’s a lot of fun!

Invite your friends to our monthly meetings and get to know those who are already there. We try to save time at the end of the meeting for you to socialize. Model railroading is fun and it is even more fun with friends! I look forward to seeing your show and tell and hearing of your adventures from the last month so that we can enjoy the journey together!
